NEW YORK DUO

Christian Zatta is a Swiss guitarist, band leader and composer. He obtained his first Master of Arts in Music in “Performance and Composition” as well as his second Master degree in “Music Pedagogy” at the Lucerne University of Arts, under the tuition of Roberto Bossard, Frank Möbus, Christy Doran, Kalle Kalima, Nathanael Su and Jesse Van Ruller. In 2018 and 2020 Christian lived in New York City for some months and took lessons with some of the most influential jazz musicians, like Gilad Hekselman, Nir Felder, Ben Monder, Nitai Hershkovits, Ari Hoenig, Shai Maestro and Mike Stern. He is an experienced stage and studio artist, with more than 400 live shows in ten different countries and eight studio albums. Beside his artistic career, he also teaches guitar, band-workshop and music theory at two music schools in the cities of Zurich and Lucerne (Switzerland) as well as at the Zurich University of Teacher Education.

Christian Zatta (guitar) and Robinson de Montmollin (piano) are two young Swiss musicians. They met each other at the Lucerne University of Arts and studied together for three years. They founded this instrumental duo in New York City in September 2018, where they lived for a while to deepen their knowledge of jazz, learning from some of the most interesting musicians of today's scene. Their Repertoire is composed by original songs and some re-arranged jazz standards. The interplay, energy and improvisation are the main features of their music.

Robinson de Montmollin is a Swiss pianist, composer, arranger and bandleader. He is an experienced stage artist and has performed a lot with many bands, as a leader and a sideman. While playing with the HSLU Big Band, he played music under the direction of Ed Partyka, David Liebman, Lars Moeller, Dan Weiss and Ohad Talmor. After obtaining his Bachelor of Jazz at the Lucerne University of Arts, he is currently studying at the prestigious « Manhattan School of Music » in New York city, in the Jazz Master Degree, supported by four different sponsors. Studying Piano with Phil Markowitz, he also studied with Ted Rosenthal, David Liebman, Chris Rosenberg, Gary Dial and Jim Mcneely. In July 2017, he obtained the first price at the « Lagnau Jazz nights piano competition». His main new project is the duo with the Swiss guitarist Christian Zatta.
